The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is an International lay Catholic organization whose mission is: To live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy. The Mission implies that as Vincentians, we see Christ in anyone who suffers, come together as a family, have personal contact with the poor and help in all possible ways.
Members of the Society are committed to turning concern into action. The primary goal and purpose of the Society is to serve and to minister to all the poor without making any distinctions of creed, ethnicity, social background, health, gender, or political opinions, and to promote their dignity in accordance with Christian values and the philosophy of the Society as expressed in the rules that govern our organization.
Essentially, we are a group of people whose goal is to help our neighbours in need.
Many parish communities have an SVP chapter, and the Cristo Rei Parish community is no different. Our conference is made up of lay persons/volunteers who yearn to fulfil their Christian faith by serving our neighbours in need with love and care. We strive to achieve the goals of this International organization within our community.

To serve Christ by lending a helping hand to the poor and marginalized with love and respect,
aid and development, hope and joy,
in a more just society
To see Christ in anyone who suffers.
Come together as a family.
Have personal contact with the poor.
Help in all possible ways.
Being an international organization, we provide maximum assistance by caring for the immediate needs of the poor. We also come together as one big family to provide support to conferences around the parish/province/country/globally that do not have sufficient funds or resources.
The Vincentians at Cristo Rei Parish conduct home visits (pre-pandemic) and provide food vouchers or grocery gift cards to our neighbors in need (curb side drop off during pandemic). In addition we have summer camps for both boys and girls (pre-pandemic). Often, we host food and toiletry drives to help out those in the community as well.
Christmastime is perhaps the most important time of the year for us. We spend our time caroling and putting on Nativity plays at senior homes, hosting large breakfast events, and more of the like.
We are constantly looking for ways to expand our reach and make a bigger impact on our community.
Home Visitations (pre-pandemic) has always been the core work of our Vincentian volunteer members. All through the pandemic we have assisted by phone. Loneliness is growing, especially among the elderly, so members spend a lot of time listening and comforting them with an effort to reduce their feeling of isolation.
Vincentians visit/listen to people in need to provide them respect, friendship, spiritual and material assistance and to assist them in dealing with their poverty and disadvantage.
People may call the Society if in need of a compassionate ear, emergency assistance in the form of food, clothing, furniture, bus tickets to help them get to their medical appointments or for information that will help access appropriate services.
We have predominantly helped single parents, sick, elderly, low income families, refugees and immigrants.
The assistance from our donors helps to further our mission to help those in need. Their support is invaluable to us and we greatly appreciate their support and sacrifice.
Whether you are a business or a family, donating allows you to make a direct impact in our community. Your tax-deductible contribution will help children and their families gain pride and help uplift them in their time of need.
For local businesses, sponsorship allows you to elevate your community profile through recognition of the contributions to the Mississauga community. Here are some of the programs that need your help.
We are a non profit Catholic organization who assist families requesting help regardless of their religious beliefs or affiliations. We can only help people residing within the boundaries of
Cristo Rei Parish.
We follow a qualification process after receiving a call to determine the level of support we can offer.
Should we receive calls from clients from outside our boundaries, we are happy to provide details of the parish conference closest to their residence.
We do our best to offer support if you need emergency assistance to make ends meet.
